The Combustion TCP is providing the advanced knowledge base on combustion required by industry to accelerate the development of combustion technologies that demonstrate greatly reduced fuel consumption and environmental impact. The research is conducted by developing and using analytical and experimental methods applicable to advanced internal combustion engines, gas turbines, furnaces, and other combustion devices. The Combustion TCP research emphasizes a high degree of industrial involvement to insure adequate attention to industrial needs (i.e., “market pull”) and dissemination of technology to the marketplace, and is facilitated by a task-sharing agreement among member nations and through personnel collaboration.
